This link will take you to a video of these two kids who have already started kissing. One of them is 5 and the other is 6. The little girl goes in for a kiss on the cheek and then the boy asks why she did it and she said she liked him. That was the end of it for these two young love birds.

Riverwalk Shooting
I was so surprised to hear that there was a shooting so close to my house. Apprentley this was a "love triangle" situtation. The shooter shot a man and a woman and the police shot the shooter who later died on the way to the hospital. This makes me think about my future and how no one knows when their last day on earth is going to be. I thank the Lord for His amazing grace and mercy. Praying for the families of the ones shot and killed.

Preparation
I am now fully prepared for tomorrow's class discussion. I am curious to know how it is going to be with 2 small groups. I am very honored to be chosen as a group leader, but all the pressure on me to make sure the conversation keeps going. I have 10 articles with me. Hopefully this is enough to keep me full of knowledge of what is going on.
Schwarzenegger's Divorce
Schwarzenegger, Shriver separating after 25 years. Michael R. Blood. AP Political Writer. Yahoo News. May 10,2011.
When I first heard of this, I was watching the news. I couldn't believe how the media makes this seem like it is normal and okay. Just because you have children who are older now and have been married for 25 years, it doesn't give you a right to separate.

Mother's Day
We had a great day yesterday for Mother's Day! I woke up and gave my mom her gift from me. I bought her 2 new shirts and made her a card. The card made her cry, but on the back it made her laugh. Afterwards we all went to church and that was a blessing as always. After church, my grandma came over and we barbecued steak and had baked potatoes, corn, and Hawaiian sweet rolls. Our neighbor's dog was out so my dog went out to play. We then came back inside and had some yummy chocolate cake. We then got ready to go to LA. My mom had gotten tickets to the taping of Simon's new show, The X Factor. The seats we got were amazing! We were dead center stage! Some of the performances were so horrible, but a lot of them were really good. I can't wait to see when it comes out on TV. Those working at the show said we were probably going to be on camera =) It is going to be fun to see if we see ourselves. We didn't get home til almost one in the morning, so I was really tired in class, but it was a great day nonetheless.

Debate, confusion on bin Laden photos. Zachary Roth. The Lookout. Yahoo News. May 5,2011.
Many people are criticizing Obama's decision to not release any photos of bin Laden. At the same time, he does have a lot of support because the releasing of the photos can endanger the lives of our troops. There are also photos going around, but they are not authentic.

High Expectations
I am going to use this time to vent a little. I find it so very annoying when people freak out when I do something wrong. If a teacher gets upset with me for something, everyone flips a lid. I am not perfect, but I am forgiven. I am who I am because I want to please God. I am not here to please anyone else. People who were not even in school today, knew that one of my teachers got upset with me for 30seconds. Everything was fine right after my teacher did that. She did not continue to stay upset with me. She was just having a stressful day. I wish that people wouldn't put me up on a high level to critic everything I do wrong. I don't really care what people think of me, but I do care if things are being talked about that wasn't even a big deal. My friend walked on campus for 5 minutes and he already knew what had happened. It is so annoying.

Class Discussion Reflection
Today's class discussion about immigration was very interesting. I would have to say that I agree with what Jose said about how the argument is pointless because it just keeps going back and forth. We really don't get anywhere. This nation is too divided on their opinions. If we were truly "One Nation Under God," I think we would get somewhere. Our nation is more like One Nation Under ME. Everyone has their own opinions and act according to things that will benefit them. One thing we can all agree on is the citizenship process needs to be a lot faster. Someone mentioned that they are still trying to get people legal now from 1992. I also liked the point that Cheyanne said after I mentioned that I think illegal immigrants should be deported if they are committing a crime. She said that being illegal is a crime, so I think that SB1070 is a good bill. If someone looks suspicious, then they should be pulled over and be asked for papers. The ones who say it is racist probably know someone close to them who might get pulled over. I think that it isn't a big deal for U.S. citizen's because they know that they have their papers. It shouldn't be a problem. I also believe that E-Verify needs to be used more often to find the illegal immigrants and send them back and the people who are hiring them should have their business shut down or at least fined. We need to secure our borders and get this problem fixed.
I am NOT pregnant
Teen fakes pregnancy as a school project. MSNBC Staff. Yakima Herald. MSNBC.com. April 22,2011.
I found this article a while ago, but I didn't get to blog because I had to go somewhere. Anyways this is about a brave teenager (17yrs old) who faked her pregnancy. She even had to fool her siblings. The experiment was to see who would treat her differently because of her pregnancy. Read more to see how she did it.

Birth Certificate
White House releases Obama birth certificate. Rachel Rose Hartman.Yahoo News. April 27,2011.
Many people have been questioning if Obama was really born here. This article shows the actual certificate of his birth in Hawaii. Politicians are hoping to finally put this a side because it has been such a big distraction. Trump, of course, still wants to make sure this is really real.

Anchor Babies
Anchor Babies: Is Citizenship an Entitled Birthright? Federation for American Immigration Reform. FAIR. August 1997.
I chose this article because I thought it was interesting that this was an issue back in 1997. It is sad to see that things haven't changed much since. Even in 1996 there were 800,000 illegal alien school children in seven states.

Economic Outlook 2
Immigration and the Economy. Federation for American Immigration Reform. FAIR. November 2002.
I like this article because it shows the actual dollar amount on how immigration changes our economy. An interesting part in this article reads, "The jobs immigration does create are for other immigrants and at the expense of Americans." This article shows a lot about how immigrants are taking over our jobs.

Just an update on Brad and Emily.....I kept reading in magazines that they are broken up, but from other recent sources this is not the case. They are still going strong, even though they have been having some issues. Tenley and Kiptyn are still going strong as well. I am glad she found someone after the horrible decision Jake made in sending her home. Jake and Vienna are no longer together. SERVES HIM RIGHT!

Chicago school bans homemade lunches, the latest in national food fight. Liz Goodwin. Yahoo News. U.S. News. April 11, 2011.
This is an article I definitely did not think I would ever read. This school in Chicago belives that it has better food for the students than what parent's are giving their students in homemade lunches, so they are banning it. The only way to get out of this, is if the student has allergies.

Not About Prom
I am not going to be blog about prom, since I did not go. I went to prom last year with JFK and had a great time. It was at Downtown Disney at the Jazz Kitchen, so my expectations are high. Instead of going to prom this year, I was at a Woman's Retreat at Murietta Hot Springs. We left on Friday and came home Sunday. I had such a good time. On Friday, I was a part of the cardboard testimonies, which left many women in tears. It was a reality of how good our God is. Later that night, our church played at the coffee house and that was like a prom to me. On Saturday, we were taught by Jean McClure, who was amazing. This retreat was all about Pslam 23. I also went to a workshop by Corrie Curtner who talked about fear. I like that she said that fear is the opposite of faith. One lady also mentioned that fear is False Evidence Appearing Real. I also sat in the spa during break time and it was very relaxing. That night, I prayed with some woman for their needs and shared the Good News with a random guy who texted my friend. I was so sad to leave on Sunday after having such a good time. I went to take a nap at 5pm and ended up waking up at 6:15am Monday Morning. I had an amazing weekend!

San Diego Trade Fair
Today was an interesting day for the Business Academy. We had to be at school at 4:45AM this morning to get to San Diego for our competition. Once we got there, we started to set up our booth right away, we were almost done, when one guy came up to us and told us that we weren't allowed to cover a certain part of our booth. We then had to rearrange everything. After set up, we had an opening ceremony and then time to start selling. Unfortunately we were only able to buy 1 booth, so it was very crowded. We did great selling our product, but it seemed so unorganized because of how crowded it was. For awards we got 5th place on our billboard, which was good. There was over 50 companies there. It was a bummer that we didn't win anything else, but we tried the best we can and I am proud of our company. Glad to be home though and hopefully will get sleep!

Goodbye Sweet Friend
On March 29, 2011, my best friend left to go into the Air Force. We dated for about a year, but have continued to be the best of friends. March 28th was one of the hardest nights for me. He will be in Texas for boot camp and then on to Mississippi. I hope he will be able to stay in contact with me when I figure out the address to write to him. I don't know if I can last a whole year without any communication from him. I miss him so much, and it has only been a couple days since he has been gone. I pray that the Lord keeps him safe and brings him back home soon. I love you friend <3

It Got Me Thinking...
From one of the groups today, I heard a great point! Someone mentioned that just because you have straight A's doesn't mean you are smart, you just do all your work. This is so true! I know that I am smart in math, but in all the other subjects, I don't feel that I am college ready. I never really thought of that before because people always told me that I was so smart. I do think I am smart, but really just in one subject. This was such a good point!

Our Play
I loved presenting our play today! We had so much fun. One thing I noticed was some of us had our backs to the audience. I also didn't like the clicker, it wasn't working with me well. I thought the class enjoyed watching our play as much as we had acting it out. It was so hard not to laugh when Luciano said, "I'm stupid and everyone makes fun of me." I am glad that Cheyenne said, "Yes" to Luciano's invitation to prom. It was very cute! =)

Class Discussion Education Reflection
I really enjoyed this class discussion. It was unfortuante that the administrators didn't listen in on our conversation. Basically, everyone agreed about their feelings on our current education system. We all have had our experiences with bad teachers. One student said that it is unfair that people who want to learn, can't and those who can learn, don't. Some people are unfortuante and are not able to afford a good education. Often times, these are the people who want to learn. Other students have the opportunity to have a good education, but don't take an advantage of it. In high school, there are so many students who just don't care to be there. There is so much overcrowding, that we don't need students who don't care. I like that everyone agrees that only the good teachers deserve tenure. It is not fair that it takes so long to fire a bad teacher. I almost think that we should have another day to talk about this because there was so much more I wanted to say and I am sure others would say the same. It would be nice to have authority in the classroom so that students can actually have power in the education system.

Bachelor Season Finale
Last night was probably one of my favorite episodes of The Bachelor. Brad Womack was on this show before, but wasn't ready for a wife the first time. This time he was ready. From the very beginning I had liked the cute little southern girl, Emily. She was engaged before, but her finance died in a plane crash on his way to work. She later found out she was pregnant with his daughter. Emily named her daughter, Ricky (this was her finance's name). I was so happy when Brad chose Emily to be his wife. I wish them the best in their engagement. =)

My Thoughts on Tenure
I think that tenure can be both a good and bad thing. Good teachers deserve every right to have tenure. We want those teachers for a long time. Before tenure is offered, there should be a teacher evaluation from the students. This is where students honestly share what they think about their teachers. There should also be days where principals and/or superintendents go into a classroom and see how the teacher is teaching. These days should be completely unexpected. Teachers seem to actually teach well when they know they are going to be evaluated. Having tenure is a privilege and bad teachers don't deserve it at all.

No More $1 Bill
Eliminating $1 Bills Could Save Billions. Seth Fiegerman. Yahoo Finance. Main St. March 9, 2011.
The U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) and Federal Reserve found out that if our $1 bills were replaced with a $1 coin, we would save $5.5 billion over 30 years. This is also a good idea because coins last a lot longer than paper money. This can take at least 4 years to transition, but the results would be great!

A little fun fact for everyone. Warner Bros has said that, starting today, they would offer The Dark Night for rental on your Facebook page. The cost is 30 Facebook credits, or $3. This can definitely be in competition with the very popular Netflix.

Wanda Sykes on Education
I was just watching The Ellen Degeneres Show and her guest was Wanda Sykes. Wanda was talking about how she didn't know how to threaten her kids because they are white. Her parents would threaten to knock the "black" off of her. She figured out she can threaten them by saying, "Do you want to go to public school?" She also mentioned that we don't learn a thing in public school compared to other countries. We don't know the metric system at all, besides our doctors. For example if the doctor says there is a tumor in your body that is 9 centimeters, we ask, "Is that bad?" We understand things such as "the tumor is the size of a grapefruit." I found it so interesting because it is sooo true.

Airmen Murdered
Two U.S. Airmen Killed in Shooting at Germany's Frankfurt Airport.. Fox News. Associated Press. March 2, 2011.
Sad story about U.S. Air Force airmen being shot by a man from Kosovo. The attack was at a bus in Terminal 2. The passenger and driver were killed. This makes me sad and afraid because I have a really good friend going into the Air Force the last week of March and he wants to be an airman.

Greg McElroy, a Quarterback in Alabama scored a 48 out of 50 on the Wonderlic test. According to Mike Florio, it isn't good to have a player smarter than the coaching staff. Never would I have ever imagined a football player being too smart to be in the NFL.

My Views on Education
Tonight, while I was working on my articles for homework, I asked my mom what she thought about not having a choice on where I went to school. We have a choice if we want to pay for a private school or something along the lines of that. She said she really didn't know what she thought. I told her that we are basically bound by our zip code. She knew this to be true. I think that it didn't matter to her because she has been happy with where I have been going to school. If the school doesn't challenge me, I challenge myself. She knows I have high standards for myself and if I was doing horrible at any school, she would know that something is wrong with the teachers.
I also recently read a post by Cheyanne and what she thought about education and I agree with her 100%. She talks about how our work ethic all starts at home. Parents need to care more about what their children are learning and need to learn to be more involved in their child's life. My parent's were a big help and encouragement to me throughout my education, well until I got to a level where my expectations were higher than theirs and they didn't know how to help me. It makes me so sad to hear that some parents don't care about their child. These are also the parents who complain that their child is doing horrible in school. Maybe the parents need to set it up in caring for their child and then maybe their child will care enough to do well in school. I don't think that money is the issue either. You can learn with just a paper and pencil. Back when students truly cared about their education, they didn't have all the technology we have now, but they still learned. I just think it all really starts with how a child is raised. I know that I cared about school even before I started kindergarten because I watched my brother and I saw all that he was learning and I wanted to do the same thing. I was jealous. Parents just need to realize this and motivate their children to learn.

The New Way to Propose
Ohio man runs a commercial to propose to his girlfriend. Brett Michael Dykes. Yahoo News. U.S. News. The Lookout. February 25, 2011.
A commercial producer tells his girlfriend Dee that he is going to be a superhero in a commercial. She was working in her hair salon when she saw her boyfriend of the t.v. After the commercial was played, news reporters and her boyfriend came to see her reaction and he got down on one knee to propose to her in person. This is definitely a memorable proposal.

No More Anti- Gay
Gov't drops defense of anti-gay marriage law. Pete Yost. Associated Press. Yahoo News. February 23, 2011.
This article made me very upset. The Obama administration has decided to no longer support the idea of a "one man, one woman" marriage. This reminds me what the Bible says about the end times. We will go back to the days of Soddam and Gomorrah, and with this happening, we are doing exactly that.

New Zealand Earthquake
Dozens trapped by New Zealand quake that killed 65. Joe Morgan. Associated Press. Yahoo News. February 22, 2011.
This article is about the tragedy in New Zealand. Hundreds of people have been trapped in buildings. Some of them have been able to get out without any injury, but some needed to have a limb amputated before they could even get out. It made me sad that mothers were calling their children and telling them goodbye.

Class Discussion Response
This class discussion was VERY interesting! I was a little bummed out that only 2 people were against the mosque being built at the very beginning of the discussion. I felt so alone trying to defend what I know is right. The Bible talks about a time where many are to be deceived, and I think this is one of those times. People are so blind to what is right in front of them. The Bible also never talks about America or anything that seems like there would be an America in the end times. If this mosque is really built, I think it can easily be the end of America. As some of the research I found said, mosques are a battleground for Muslims and it shows power. If there is a mosque in the place where employees of the Twin Towers died, it shows that we don't care if we are going to be taken over. This is also a huge slap in the face to the families of the victims. The Bible also talks about how people will tolerate things a lot more and will consider and fulfill a one world government and religion. We are definitely on the right track for this. I was happy that 1 other person decided to be on the against side when the discussion was over, but I still think people are deceived on what the world tells us what is right. We are to listen to God, not man.

Amazing Birthday Continued....
So today my two best friends Alyssa and Kaylee picked me up from school (12:30) and we went to Del Taco for a small lunch. When I got home my kitchen was decorated like a spa. I was told that they were going to give me a pedicure, a manicure, a facial, and do my hair and make up. We were then going to get all dressed up and go have appetizers at TGIFridays. Then a main course at California Pizza Kitchen and finally a dessert at Cold Stone. At CPK we met a nice waiter named Ricky, who was often flirtatious with me. We shared God's amazing gift of eternal life with him and how to receive it and he wanted to accept. It is very possible he will be at church on Tuesday night. We were all just so excited we are going to have a rain check on going to Cold Stone (it was already almost 10PM by the time we finished dinner and talking to Ricky). We then went to Forever 21 and shopped for the last hour it was open. It was so nice not having to go home at curfew. This has by far been the best birthday I have had and I am still celebrating the next two days =) I have to give so many thanks to those who made it so special!

My 18th Birthday
So I have finally settled down at home. Today was a great start to an ongoing birthday :) I left school extra early today to go shopping and hang out with my mom. She brought me home balloons. I came home for a little bit after shopping and my dad came home with 18 carnations and a balloon. I opened my family present and I got a 22" flat screen for my room :) We then went out to eat at my favorite restaurant, Wood Ranch. They gave me a nice ice cream sundae :) After that we went to church and everyone sang Happy Birthday to me. We also had some cake. My two best friends pulled me off to the side and gave me 2 balloons attached to a razor and a clue card. The clue said "Shave your legs." They told me I would figure out what that means tomorrow. Sooo that means I get to hang out with my best friends tomorrow after Christian Club (12:30). My teacher Ms. Duong is also going to take me to Starbucks before school tomorrow morning :) Then on Saturday I am going shopping with my cousin and having lunch. And on Sunday we are having a Super Bowl/ Birthday Party :) This has already started being the best birthday I have had. Today I also got the great news that I am on the valedictorian list for graduation :) That has been my life long dream and I am so excited!!! I am so thankful to everyone who made my birthday so special! :)

State of the Union Project
1) Invest: By investing in clean energy technology, my generation will have new jobs. This will also keep our planet safe; this is important to me.
2) Technology: The new technology will provide our country with stricter security.
3) Money: Money and the way we spend it is talked about throughout Obama's speech. Money will always be a big factor in the spending choices I make in the future.
4) Power: After reading the speech and watching it, I realized how much power our President has over big decisions.
5) Education: Education is very important to me because, as Obama said, most jobs/careers in the next 10 years require a higher education.
6) Hard work: I believe it must have taken a lof ot hard work to write the State of the Union speech. It also takes hard work to get anywhere in life.
7) Discipline: Having self-discipline also helps pursue our goals. It is taking a lot self disipline to finish reading the speech and finish this project in the first few days its due.
8) Success: Being successful in like is important so that I may help other people. From this speech, it seems like Obama has done the same.
9) Learning: It is important to be focused with learning in school. We are expected to learn more and more, so it is important to take school seriously.
10) Standards: Republicans and Democrats have raised the standard of learning for students. I do think this is fair because most Americans are lazy and need that extra push.
11) Teacher: In the speech, Obama talks about if you want to make a difference, becaome a teacher. This is significant to me because I wanted to be a teacher for the longest time because of my love for helping people.
12) Student: As a student, I am open to anything that will help me advance in my education.
13) College: I was very happy to read that tuition for college students shouldn't be as high as before. This is very important to me because I will be a college student in the Fall of 2011 and I don't have much money to spend on my tuition.
14) Years: Obama uses the word years many times in his speech. This tells me that we won't start seeing progress for over a year.
15) Progress: With Obama, we have heard of some progress in our economy. This is something that my generation is looking forward to.
16) Health: I do my best to stay healthy and I think it is good that Obama is really trying his best to keep a healthy American with his health care reform.
17) Solution: It is hard to believe that we will ever have a bipartisan solution for anything, but we need to. No one every agrees on anything, especially this generation.
18) Compromise: Spiritual compromise is never a good thing for me, but in politics, a little bit of compromise between Republicans and Democrats can furthur our nation.
19) Future: President Obama constantly talks about the future. I hope for his solutions to actually help us in the future.
20) Responsibility: Unfortunately, I feel that there is not enought responsible people in this world. We need to be able to trust those we vote into office.
21) Moral: We all have different morals, but as a country, we need to shine out the best of American people.
22) Freedom: Now that I am turning 18, freedom is big in my mind. In this country everyone yearns to keep our nation free and we need to keep that, as Obama has stated.
23) Troops: I am very excited for the idea of bringing our tropps out of Iraq. It has been way too long, but we had to do what we had to do.
24) Pray: Prayer is a big asepct of my life. It truely changes things, including the health of Gabby Giffords.
25) Beliefs: I have very strong beliefs in my faith and I believe it is good to fight for them even if it means creating bigger differences between political parties.
26) Family: Without my family, I don't know where I would be in my life right now. I have always stayed faithful to my family and we should all stay faithful to our American family.
27) Faith: Obama is 100% correct when he says we can find every kind of faith in this country. The difference is, that people like me are more bold about our faith.
28) Paychecks: I have yet to see a paycheck in my life, but when I get one, I am happy to know that it will be bigger than they are now.
29) Republicans: I am curious to know what the Republicans think about Obama's solutions and ideas.
30) Job: I really need a job and I hope Obama's plans will help my generation get jobs easier.
31) Kids: I often think about my future and what this country will be like for my kids. Hopefully some of these ideas will start making a difference for our kids.
32) Entrepreneurs: My goals in life revolve around the business world. Entrepreneurs is what helps drive our country in a direction of productivity.
33) Deficit: Our country's deficit is a big topic between our polictical leaders. I agree that we need to learn how to control our spending to stop the increase of our deficit.
34) Difficult: I think that writing the State of the Union Address Speech must have been difficult.
35) Economy: Economics was a class I really enjoyed. I care a lot more about what is going on in our economy and I believe it is important for politicans to make decisions that will help our economy grow in a positive direction.
36) Politicians: This whole speech reminded me of all the important decision politicans have to make even with heated political rhetoric.
37) Coverage: I am always doing things online on my laptop where I need wireless connections and I am happy to hear that in the next generation, about 98% of Americans will be covered.
38) Savings: Lately, saving my money for college has been a major factor in my life and America also needs to be in the habit of saving more than spending.
39) Goal: My goal for completing my State of the Union project is February 2nd, and I am positive I will make this goal.
40) Possible: I believe solvng all our deficit problems is not possible. Our deficit is way too high.
41) Financial: Being a future accountant, I think about finances all the time. We need to do all we can to prevent financial crisis as Obama said.
42) Affordable: I am a big fan of keeping things affordable and I appreciate the willingness of Obama to speak with anyone about making health insurance affordable for everyone.
43) Relationship: It scares me that Obama is allowing relationships with Russia, Asia, and India to become so strong. Usually relationships are a good thing, but a lot of times there is always someone who goes behind the back of the other.
44) Christian: As a Christian, I wish for more Christians who are strong in their faith to be voted into office.
45) Love: I believe our country will prosper if people learned how to love others as much as themselves.
46) Earth: I agree with Obama when he says that no American will trade places for another nation on this Earth. Our Earth is very diverse, but only in America is there true freedom and democracy.
47) Graduates: I was shocked with the quote in Obama's speech about how some students don't come from a family of college graduates, but will be the first to get a degree in their family. This is the same for me in my family.
48) Hopeful: During this speech, I became hopeful of my future and my future in college and in my career. It seems like things should get better.
49) God: When listening to the speech, all I could think about is, if everyone had a strong and genuine faith in God, we would have a perfect nation.
50) Bless: I feel that God has truely blessed our country because even though we are a corrupt country, God has been merciful in allowing us to keep our freedom.

WHIPS for February 1, 2011
Goodwin, Liz. "Popular chicken chain under fire for anti-gay marriage donations." Yahoo News. Yahoo.com. January 31, 2011.
Currently, Chick-fil-A is receiving a lot of hate from supporters of gay marriages. Chick-fil-A is famous for being closed on Sundays because of having been founded on Christian values. They also give generously to many Christian causes, scholarships, and other Christian organizations. A Chick-fil-A in Harrisburg Pennsylvania donated sandwhiches and brownies to one of The Pennsylvania Family Group meetings. This group works hard in trying to outlaw gay marriages, pro-gay marriage bloggers, and other gay right organizations. President of Chick-fil-A, Dan Cathy responded by saying, " Chick-fil-A serves all people and values all people."
Some customers are actually happy that Chick-fil-A did this. Some say they will now support Chick-fil-A even more because of the donation. John Joyner wrote, "You have nothing to explain to your customers, we support your family values, and know that you mean no ill-will to those with other opinions." Those who support gay marriage are very upset about this, especially those who love eating at Chick-fil-A. Rob Augino wrote,"I've eated and loved chick all my life. I am sad that me and my entire family must denounce the Chick until you publicly apologize and make and equal opposite donation to the Human Rights Campaign or other civil rights group." Personally, I am very proud of Chick-fil-A for standing up for their faith and what they know to be morally correct. I think that many Christians will still be a big supporter of Chick-fil-A and this will not hurt their business at all.

Heathcare Discussion Response
The class discussion on Friday went a lot better than I had expected. I thought that I was going to be the only one in the class who disagreed with Obama's healthcare plan. It turned out that a lot of people didn't agree with it and others had a lot of the same opinions as I did. It was nice to not feel shot down by any of the arguments. I do feel bad for the ones who are shy and don't like to talk much. If they are near me again like this week, I will try and speak up for them so they can have a turn. At one point the class did get a little heated and had to be calmed down , but it didn't affect how smoothly everything was running. A couple times we went off subject about Iraq and homeless people, but somehow we were able to bring it back to healthcare. I really liked how polite everyone was when they talked over someone else. I am really excited for our next class discussion. It was very fun and exciting.

Obama and Salmon
Quick-Obama's Speech. Think 'Salmon'. Michael D. Shear. The New York Times. January 26, 2011.
This is one of the craziest things I have ever heard. Out of the 6,955 words President Obama spoke in his State of the Union Address, the one word that stuck out to most Americans, was "Salmon." Obama made a slight joke, and now it is the topic everyone remembers. Read the article for the joke.

Oprah Has A Sister?
Oprah Winfrey reveals half-sister she never knew. Reuters. Bob Tourtellotte. January 24, 2011.
Very interesting article about a long lost half sister of Oprah, Patricia. Patricia had known that Oprah was her sister since 2007, but didn't want to start a big media frenzy, so she kept it secret. Oprah's sister had been in foster care homes since she was 7 years old.

Praising God =)
On February 11-13th, my high school youth group is going on a retreat up in the mountains. I am a leader in the youth group, and I really want to go. Unfortunately, the cost to go is $120. I don't want my parents to be paying that much for me because my family basically through away a lot of money paying for my dad's teeth and my dog's vet bill. Anyways, I have been praying and praying that if it was God's will, He would find a way for me to go. On Wednesday night, my youth pastor told my mom that someone told him they wanted to pay for me to go to the retreat! Thank You Lord! And Thank You Kind Stranger!

Today
Today was a very interesting day. I had my driving license test today, but I wasn't feeling very well. I have a cold and I didn't get much sleep because my dog kept crying to me. He should be fine now, but he keeps hiding in my closet. Anyways, I went to take my test and i passed! I was soooo hungry because I didn't eat since yesterday. Later I realized my brother has a bunch of munchies in his glove compartment. I felt so dumb! To celebrate, we went out to dinner to TGIFridays. It was a good day! I just hope I feel better by tomorrow.

Terrified
So today, my dog hasn't been acting normal. He can't sit still, and is panting really hard. He has had these lumps on his body for a long time now. We knew it wasn't good, but we just cant afford to take him to the vet. Today is the day; he has an appointment for the vet at 5 PM. I know we can't afford for any medicine or anything like that, so right now, might be the last time I see my dog again. =( I am praying he is going to be okay, but it might be his time to go. I hope to see you again Astro! <3

Kcal 9 news
I was just watching the news about gifford and christina before my bed time goal of 10. Which will most likely not happen thanks to my dad not taking the responsibility of helping out with the dishes. Be obviously doesn't know my nightly routine of blogging and reading my bible before going to bed. Wow blogging is seriously a good place to vent. Anyways the news was both happy and sad. Christina's classmates were mourning because of the random shooting. There is good news about Gabby. She responding by throwing her hand in the air when her husband told her to give him a thumbs up sign. God is definitely watching over her.

Future Cars
The future of cars: Drivers not Needed John D. Sutter. January 10, 2011
In 2030, there is another possible new car that does not require a driver controlling the car. These cars can sense other cars and pedestrians so it knows how to speed up and slow down accordingly. This car fits two people and nothing more. It only has 2 wheels, like a Segway, and it is small enough that in a parking lot, you can fit up to 6 times more of these cars than you can with today's cars.

The Homeless Man
Golden-Voiced Homeless Man Captivates Internet Daniel Kreps January 4, 2011
A homeless man by the name of Ted Williams of Ohio has an incredible voice. He went from being homeless to being the speaker for the Cleveland Cavaliers. He is lucky that drugs and alcohol didn't ruin his voice. (I believe this is why he was probably homeless). The Cavaliers offered him a full time job including a home. It is always great seeing success stories like these.
