Twin Boys

Twin Baby Boys Have a Conversation. Teresa Strasser. Shine. Yahoo.com. March 30, 2011.

This video is so cute! These twin boys have a complete conversation in baby talk with hand gestures and everything. My mom and I think that one of the boys are telling the other one to give his sock back HAHA.

Goodbye Sweet Friend

On March 29, 2011, my best friend left to go into the Air Force. We dated for about a year, but have continued to be the best of friends. March 28th was one of the hardest nights for me. He will be in Texas for boot camp and then on to Mississippi. I hope he will be able to stay in contact with me when I figure out the address to write to him. I don't know if I can last a whole year without any communication from him. I miss him so much, and it has only been a couple days since he has been gone. I pray that the Lord keeps him safe and brings him back home soon. I love you friend <3

This was so good, I had to tell someone about it. My brother was the closest person to tell. HAHA. There was this boy in 1987, who had written a letter and put it in a bottle with a return address, and now, 24 years later, the then, 5 year old boy, received a reply from his message.

Tax Cheaters

What does a tax cheat look like? Zachary  Roth. Yahoo News. U.S. News. March 28, 2011.

I knew that some people probably cheated on their taxes, but I was shocked by the statistics. There were 64% of  those who admitted they cheated on their taxes were men, and 55% of them were under 45 years old. It makes sense that the younger ones are the cheaters.

Funny Laws

Weird Traffic Laws. Cindy Perman. Yahoo Autos. CNBC.com March 28, 2011.

This is a funny article about 10 different traffic laws that seem ridiculous. I like that it is a law in Rockville, Maryland to watch your mouth. You can't swear where  others can hear you.

It Got Me Thinking...

From one of the groups today, I heard a great point! Someone mentioned that just because you have straight A's doesn't mean you are smart, you just do all your work. This is so true! I know that I am smart in math, but in all the other subjects, I don't feel that I am college ready. I never really thought of that before because people always told me that I was so smart. I do think I am smart, but really just in one subject. This was such a good point!

Startled Baby

This baby can make me laugh every time I watch this!

Our Play

I loved presenting our play today! We had so much fun. One thing I noticed was some of us had our backs to the audience. I also didn't like the clicker, it wasn't working with me well. I thought the class enjoyed watching our play as much as we had acting it out. It was so hard not to laugh when Luciano said, "I'm stupid and everyone makes fun of me." I am glad that Cheyenne said, "Yes" to Luciano's invitation to prom. It was very cute! =)

Costs of Libya Operation

Costs of Libya operation already piling up. Megan Scully. National Journal. Yahoo News. March 20, 2011.

It's not a big surprise that the costs of this Libya operation are high. They are trying to maintain a no-fly zone which will cost $30 million to $100 million per week. Another article mentioned that this operation will probably last awhile. There is going to be a continuous added debt to this nation.

SAT Essay Uproar

Reality TV and the SAT: Did students miss the point of the essay question? Lylah M. Alphonse. Shine Staff. Yahoo. March 18, 2011.

A recent SAT essay question has really stumped high school students. The question asked how authenic is reality tv. Some students say they don't even have cable or don't watch reality tv. The problem is, the essay isn't graded based on how well you know the subject, but how well you can write an essay.

Class Discussion Education Reflection

I really enjoyed this class discussion. It was unfortuante that the administrators didn't listen in on our conversation. Basically, everyone agreed about their feelings on our current education system. We all have had our experiences with bad teachers. One student said that it is unfair that people who want to learn, can't and those who can learn, don't. Some people are unfortuante and are not able to afford a good education. Often times, these are the people who want to learn. Other students have the opportunity to have a good education, but don't take an advantage of it. In high school, there are so many students who just don't care to be there. There is so much overcrowding, that we don't need students who don't care. I like that everyone agrees that only the good teachers deserve tenure. It is not fair that it takes so long to fire a bad teacher. I almost think that we should have another day to talk about this because there was so much more I wanted to say and I am sure others would say the same. It would be nice to have authority in the classroom so that students can actually have power in the education system.

Empty Stores

Panic buying adds to shortage after Japan quake. Yuri Kageyama. Associated Press. Yahoo Finance. March 15, 2011.

People in Japan are starting to buy everything in stores needed for survival. At gas stations, cars continue to circle to get their gas. One resident stated that he can't even find a chocolate bar. There is a huge shortage in one of our world's greatest countries.

Bachelor Season Finale

Last night was probably one of my favorite episodes of The Bachelor. Brad Womack was on this show before, but wasn't ready for a wife the first time. This time he was ready. From the very beginning I had liked the cute little southern girl, Emily. She was engaged before, but her finance died in a plane crash on his way to work. She later found out she was pregnant with his daughter. Emily named her daughter, Ricky (this was her finance's name). I was so happy when Brad chose Emily to be his wife. I wish them the best in their engagement. =)

My Thoughts on Tenure

I think that tenure can be both a good and bad thing. Good teachers deserve every right to have tenure. We want those teachers for a long time. Before tenure is offered, there should be a teacher evaluation from the students. This is where students honestly share what they think about their teachers. There should also be days where principals and/or superintendents go into a classroom and see how the teacher is teaching. These days should be completely unexpected. Teachers seem to actually teach well when they know they are going to be evaluated. Having tenure is a privilege and bad teachers don't deserve it at all.

No More $1 Bill

Eliminating $1 Bills Could Save Billions. Seth Fiegerman. Yahoo Finance. Main St. March 9, 2011.

The U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) and Federal Reserve found out that if our $1 bills were replaced with a $1 coin, we would save $5.5 billion over 30 years. This is also a good idea because coins last a lot longer than paper money. This can take at least 4 years to transition, but the results would be great!

Movies on Facebook

Rent a movie- on your Facebook page. Julianne Pepitone. CNNMoney. FactSet Research Systems Inc. March 8, 2011.

A little fun fact for everyone. Warner Bros has said that, starting today, they would offer The Dark Night for rental on your Facebook page. The cost is 30 Facebook credits, or $3. This can definitely be in competition with the very popular Netflix.

Wanda Sykes on Education

I was just watching The Ellen Degeneres Show and her guest was Wanda Sykes. Wanda was talking about how she didn't know how to threaten her kids because they are white. Her parents would threaten to knock the "black" off of her. She figured out she can threaten them by saying, "Do you want to go to public school?" She also mentioned that we don't learn a thing in public school compared to other countries. We don't know the metric system at all, besides our doctors. For example if the doctor says there is a tumor in your body that is 9 centimeters, we ask, "Is that bad?" We understand things such as "the tumor is the size of a grapefruit." I found it so interesting  because it is sooo true.

Airmen Murdered

Two U.S. Airmen Killed in Shooting at Germany's Frankfurt Airport.. Fox News. Associated Press. March 2, 2011.

Sad story about U.S. Air Force airmen being shot by a man from Kosovo. The attack was at a bus in Terminal 2. The passenger and driver were killed. This makes me sad and afraid because I have a really good friend going into the Air Force the last week of March and he wants to be an airman.

He is Remarkable

I decided to stop listening to secular music because it wasn't helping my relationship with Christ. This song makes me so happy to have a beat that I like with awesome lyrics.

Amazing Video!!!!!

I was caught in tears while watching this video.

Smart QB

Greg McElroy almost aced the Wonderlic. Is he too smart for the NFL? Matt Hinton. Yahoo Sports. Rivals.com. February 28, 2011.

Greg McElroy, a Quarterback in Alabama scored a 48 out of 50 on the Wonderlic test. According to Mike Florio, it isn't good to have a player smarter than the coaching staff. Never would I have ever imagined a football player being too smart to be in the NFL.
