Tonight, while I was working on my articles for homework, I asked my mom what she thought about not having a choice on where I went to school. We have a choice if we want to pay for a private school or something along the lines of that. She said she really didn't know what she thought. I told her that we are basically bound by our zip code. She knew this to be true. I think that it didn't matter to her because she has been happy with where I have been going to school. If the school doesn't challenge me, I challenge myself. She knows I have high standards for myself and if I was doing horrible at any school, she would know that something is wrong with the teachers.
I also recently read a post by Cheyanne and what she thought about education and I agree with her 100%. She talks about how our work ethic all starts at home. Parents need to care more about what their children are learning and need to learn to be more involved in their child's life. My parent's were a big help and encouragement to me throughout my education, well until I got to a level where my expectations were higher than theirs and they didn't know how to help me. It makes me so sad to hear that some parents don't care about their child. These are also the parents who complain that their child is doing horrible in school. Maybe the parents need to set it up in caring for their child and then maybe their child will care enough to do well in school. I don't think that money is the issue either. You can learn with just a paper and pencil. Back when students truly cared about their education, they didn't have all the technology we have now, but they still learned. I just think it all really starts with how a child is raised. I know that I cared about school even before I started kindergarten because I watched my brother and I saw all that he was learning and I wanted to do the same thing. I was jealous. Parents just need to realize this and motivate their children to learn.

The New Way to Propose
Ohio man runs a commercial to propose to his girlfriend. Brett Michael Dykes. Yahoo News. U.S. News. The Lookout. February 25, 2011.
A commercial producer tells his girlfriend Dee that he is going to be a superhero in a commercial. She was working in her hair salon when she saw her boyfriend of the t.v. After the commercial was played, news reporters and her boyfriend came to see her reaction and he got down on one knee to propose to her in person. This is definitely a memorable proposal.

No More Anti- Gay
Gov't drops defense of anti-gay marriage law. Pete Yost. Associated Press. Yahoo News. February 23, 2011.
This article made me very upset. The Obama administration has decided to no longer support the idea of a "one man, one woman" marriage. This reminds me what the Bible says about the end times. We will go back to the days of Soddam and Gomorrah, and with this happening, we are doing exactly that.

New Zealand Earthquake
Dozens trapped by New Zealand quake that killed 65. Joe Morgan. Associated Press. Yahoo News. February 22, 2011.
This article is about the tragedy in New Zealand. Hundreds of people have been trapped in buildings. Some of them have been able to get out without any injury, but some needed to have a limb amputated before they could even get out. It made me sad that mothers were calling their children and telling them goodbye.

Class Discussion Response
This class discussion was VERY interesting! I was a little bummed out that only 2 people were against the mosque being built at the very beginning of the discussion. I felt so alone trying to defend what I know is right. The Bible talks about a time where many are to be deceived, and I think this is one of those times. People are so blind to what is right in front of them. The Bible also never talks about America or anything that seems like there would be an America in the end times. If this mosque is really built, I think it can easily be the end of America. As some of the research I found said, mosques are a battleground for Muslims and it shows power. If there is a mosque in the place where employees of the Twin Towers died, it shows that we don't care if we are going to be taken over. This is also a huge slap in the face to the families of the victims. The Bible also talks about how people will tolerate things a lot more and will consider and fulfill a one world government and religion. We are definitely on the right track for this. I was happy that 1 other person decided to be on the against side when the discussion was over, but I still think people are deceived on what the world tells us what is right. We are to listen to God, not man.

Amazing Birthday Continued....
So today my two best friends Alyssa and Kaylee picked me up from school (12:30) and we went to Del Taco for a small lunch. When I got home my kitchen was decorated like a spa. I was told that they were going to give me a pedicure, a manicure, a facial, and do my hair and make up. We were then going to get all dressed up and go have appetizers at TGIFridays. Then a main course at California Pizza Kitchen and finally a dessert at Cold Stone. At CPK we met a nice waiter named Ricky, who was often flirtatious with me. We shared God's amazing gift of eternal life with him and how to receive it and he wanted to accept. It is very possible he will be at church on Tuesday night. We were all just so excited we are going to have a rain check on going to Cold Stone (it was already almost 10PM by the time we finished dinner and talking to Ricky). We then went to Forever 21 and shopped for the last hour it was open. It was so nice not having to go home at curfew. This has by far been the best birthday I have had and I am still celebrating the next two days =) I have to give so many thanks to those who made it so special!

My 18th Birthday
So I have finally settled down at home. Today was a great start to an ongoing birthday :) I left school extra early today to go shopping and hang out with my mom. She brought me home balloons. I came home for a little bit after shopping and my dad came home with 18 carnations and a balloon. I opened my family present and I got a 22" flat screen for my room :) We then went out to eat at my favorite restaurant, Wood Ranch. They gave me a nice ice cream sundae :) After that we went to church and everyone sang Happy Birthday to me. We also had some cake. My two best friends pulled me off to the side and gave me 2 balloons attached to a razor and a clue card. The clue said "Shave your legs." They told me I would figure out what that means tomorrow. Sooo that means I get to hang out with my best friends tomorrow after Christian Club (12:30). My teacher Ms. Duong is also going to take me to Starbucks before school tomorrow morning :) Then on Saturday I am going shopping with my cousin and having lunch. And on Sunday we are having a Super Bowl/ Birthday Party :) This has already started being the best birthday I have had. Today I also got the great news that I am on the valedictorian list for graduation :) That has been my life long dream and I am so excited!!! I am so thankful to everyone who made my birthday so special! :)
