WHIPS for February 1, 2011

Goodwin, Liz. "Popular chicken chain under fire for anti-gay marriage donations." Yahoo News. Yahoo.com. January 31, 2011.

Currently, Chick-fil-A is receiving a lot of hate from supporters of gay marriages. Chick-fil-A is famous for being closed on Sundays because of having been founded on Christian values. They also give generously to many Christian causes, scholarships, and other Christian organizations.  A Chick-fil-A in Harrisburg Pennsylvania donated sandwhiches and brownies to one of The Pennsylvania Family Group meetings. This group works hard in trying to outlaw gay marriages, pro-gay marriage bloggers, and other gay right organizations. President of Chick-fil-A, Dan Cathy responded by saying, " Chick-fil-A serves all people and values all people."
Some customers are actually happy that Chick-fil-A did this. Some say they will now support Chick-fil-A even more because of the donation. John Joyner wrote, "You have nothing to explain to your customers, we support your family values, and know that you mean no ill-will to those with other opinions." Those who support gay marriage are very upset about this, especially those who love eating at Chick-fil-A. Rob Augino wrote,"I've eated and loved chick all my life. I am sad that me and my entire family must denounce the Chick until you publicly apologize and make and equal opposite donation to the Human Rights Campaign or other civil rights group." Personally, I am very proud of Chick-fil-A for standing up for their faith and what they know to be morally correct. I think that many Christians will still be a big supporter of Chick-fil-A and this will not hurt their business at all.

Heathcare Discussion Response

The class discussion on Friday went a lot better than I had expected. I thought that I was going to be the only one in the class who disagreed with Obama's healthcare plan. It turned out that a lot of people didn't agree with it and others had a lot of the same opinions as I did. It was nice to not feel shot down by any of the arguments. I do feel bad for the ones who are shy and don't like to talk much. If they are near me again like this week,  I will try and speak up for them so they can have a turn. At one point the class did get a little heated and had to be calmed down , but it didn't affect how smoothly everything was running. A couple times we went off subject about Iraq and homeless people, but somehow we were able to bring it back to healthcare. I really liked how polite everyone was when they  talked over someone else. I am really excited for our next class discussion. It was very fun and exciting.

Praising God =)

On February 11-13th, my high school youth group is going on a retreat up in the mountains. I am a leader in the youth group, and I really want to go. Unfortunately, the cost to go is $120. I don't want my parents to be paying that much for me because my family basically through away a lot of money paying for my dad's teeth and my dog's vet bill. Anyways, I have been praying and praying that if it was God's will, He would find a way for me to go. On Wednesday night, my youth pastor told my mom that someone told him they wanted to pay for me to go to the retreat! Thank You Lord! And Thank You Kind Stranger!

Today

Today was a very interesting day. I had my driving license test today, but I wasn't feeling very well. I have a cold and I didn't get much sleep because my dog kept crying to me. He should be fine now, but he keeps hiding in my closet. Anyways, I went to take my test and i passed! I was soooo hungry because I didn't eat since yesterday. Later I realized my brother has a bunch of munchies in his glove compartment. I felt so dumb! To celebrate, we went out to dinner to TGIFridays. It was a good day! I just hope I feel better by tomorrow.

Terrified

So today, my dog hasn't been acting normal. He can't sit still, and is panting really hard. He has had these lumps on his body for a long time now. We knew it wasn't good, but we just cant afford to take him to the vet. Today is the day; he has an appointment for the vet at 5 PM. I know we can't afford for any medicine or anything like that, so right now, might be the last time I see my dog again. =( I am praying he is going to be okay, but it might be his time to go. I hope to see you again Astro! <3

Kcal 9 news

I was just watching the news about gifford and christina before my bed time goal of 10. Which will most likely not happen thanks to my dad not taking the responsibility of helping out with the dishes. Be obviously doesn't know my nightly routine of blogging and reading my bible before going to bed. Wow blogging is seriously a good place to vent. Anyways the news was both happy and sad. Christina's classmates were mourning because of the random shooting. There is good news about Gabby. She responding by throwing her hand in the air when her husband told her to give him a thumbs up sign. God is definitely watching over her.

It only has 2 wheels, like a Segway, and it is small enough that in a parking lot, you can fit up to 6 times more of these cars than you can with today's cars.

The Homeless Man

Golden-Voiced Homeless Man Captivates Internet    Daniel Kreps  January 4, 2011

A homeless man by the name of Ted Williams of Ohio has an incredible voice. He went from being homeless to being the speaker for the Cleveland Cavaliers. He is lucky that drugs and alcohol didn't ruin his voice. (I believe this is why he was probably homeless). The Cavaliers offered him a full time job including a home. It is always great seeing success stories like these.
